The Human Rights Index is a continuing series prepared by the UI Center for Human Rights (UICHR) for publication in The Iowa Review Online and the Journal of Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems three times annually. First published in Fall 2001, it is intended to suggest the global political/socio-economic context within which we go about our lives, reflecting the belief that human rights cannot be truly advanced without understanding the parts as well as the whole.
